A "Premium" Nightmare: My Experience with Defective Lenses & Useless Warranty 😤
I'm writing this to warn others about my awful online shopping experience. I thought I was making a good choice, but it turned into a complete headache that I hope you can avoid. My feeling about this whole ordeal is simple: Everything about working with GlassesUSA was great until the glasses defect surfaced. I paid for premium lenses including the $48 extra for the Super Hydrophobic coating. These lenses are nearly impossible to clean. I have 9 pairs of Zenni glasses and not a single one of them have this issues. The only reason I tried GlassesUSA is because Zenni didn't offer the frames I wanted. When this defect became obvious, I felt I had to contact their customer service to get the product I actually paid for.
Customer: Hello, I'm having a serious issue with the lenses I ordered. I paid extra for the Super Hydrophobic coating, but they are constantly smudged and impossible to clean. This is clearly a defect.
CS Rep: I'm very sorry to hear about the trouble with your new lenses. Our warranty allows for a return, and we can offer you a 50% store credit toward a new pair.
Customer: Why would I only get 50% credit for a defective product? I don't want store credit; I want a replacement pair with the coating applied correctly. I paid for a premium feature that doesn't work.
CS Rep: I understand your position. However, for a replacement, your case must be reviewed by our warranty team. I have escalated your request, but it may take 3 to 5 business days to receive an email response from them.
Customer: Three to five days for just an email? And there's no way to speak to a live agent on the phone? This is incredibly poor service for a defective item. I just want what I paid for.
CS Rep: I do apologize for the inconvenience and the wait time. Your case has been forwarded, and they will contact you directly via email.
The reason I left this review on the website is to hopefully prevent others from falling into the same trap.
